Double Time is Jane Roper's memoir of her first three years raising twin daughters. I've heard Jane read from it and I can attest it's hilarious, serious and intimate. It's also gutsy: Roper bravely describes her battle with depression and how that got complicated when she added twins to her life.
Seems like the Facebook train just keeps on rolling, with todays news that theLightbox team will be joining the social network. For Lightbox users, the end is sadly nigh as the service will be closing down completely from June 15. Existing users can continue to use the service until then, but no more new signups will be accepted.
This isn't an acquisition, not like the $1 billion buyout submitted for Instagram. As such, none of the user data stored by Lightbox will become the property of Facebook. The staff is the only part transitioning, and as such closing the doors for good. Until June 15, all your photos can be exported, and the Android application has already been removed from Google Play. Additionally, parts of the code will be open-sourced in the coming weeks.

It's been more than a week since Yahoo CEO Scott Thompson's resume blew up in his face, and by the looks of things, the Yahoo board isn't bothered by it. They're not bothered enough to fire the guy, anyway. Thompson's still in charge at Yahoo, and a week's worth of morale-melting embarrassment and haranguing from Dan Loeb haven't been enough to change that.
In what has to be record time for a branded firmware update, British network Three has started pushing out its branded version of the 1.78 firmware for theHTC One S. This is the latest software update whichbegan rolling out on unbranded One S phones last week. As we mentioned at the time, this update seems to remove some instances of the pesky virtual menu button in certain Google apps, in addition to fixing the ongoing Wifi wonkiness that's been affecting some HTC One phones.
The update weighs in at around 58MB, and includes a brand new kernel and radio too, if you're interested in that stuff. If you're rocking a One S on Three UK, head to Settings -> About phone -> Software updates to pick up the latest update.

Facebook says it intends to make further changes to its privacy policy in order to respond to an audit by the Irish government, but privacy advocates saw the move as an inadequate attempt to quell privacy concerns prior to Facebook's planned initial public offering.
Well, after days and days of nothing, suddenly things are moving at a fast clip. After news came out just hours ago that Thompson might be leaving the company tomorrow, moments ago Yahooofficially confirmed the news, as wereported earlier: Ross Levinsohn is now interim Chief Executive Officer, replacing Scott Thompson, and Fred Amoroso is chairman of the board. Scott Thompson's departure and the reasons for it are not mentioned at all in the statement, which simply says he has left the company. (Earlier a report inAllThingsD had said he would resign for personal reasons, although at least in this statement nothing at all is mentioned for why he has left.) The announcement from Yahoo also underscores how activist shareholder Third Point is very much a key player in all of this.

There's no denying the incendiary nature of the topic of desktop Linux, which tends to gets rehashed in heated detail every so often both on these pages and beyond. What some may not remember, however, is that there's another recurring Linux subject that can be equally controversial. It hasn't appeared in some time, but apparently some slow fires have been burning all along, because they just flared up anew.
